AnimalWISE Education Volunteer (NATIONAL WILDLIFE CENTRE, FISHCROSS)
Animal WISE is the Scottish SPCAs educational initiative which aims to educate and support individuals and communities across Scotland. We want to challenge people to become WISE about animals and increase their knowledge through participating in various educational opportunities with the aim of reducing the effects of unintentional and intentional injury and neglect and therefore safeguarding animal welfare.
As Animal WISE is continuously expanding we are looking for volunteers who have a keen interest in working with young people and willing to assist the Educate and Prevent team in delivering a wide variety of educational activities. As some of this work will involve direct contact with young people and involve supervising responsibilities then this is deemed as a ‘child care’ volunteering position. This means we will require you to be a member of Disclosure Scotland’s PVG Scheme. This can be arranged through the Scottish SPCA at no charge. If you are already a member of the PVG scheme, we will require your certificate number so that we can request a scheme update.
Becoming an Animal WISE education volunteer is a great way to gain practical experience of working with young people and combining this with animal welfare is certainly an exciting opportunity for anyone with interests in these areas.
